'Tis the Season to buy, sell and go totally green!

Vancouver Island Marmot

The Wilderness Committee has just finished our rounds of cheer -- our yearly tradition of Christmas booths. It all started with decorating the Gastown Store, painting the windows with Christmas trees, putting up the lights... then we moved on to the 33rd annual Christmas at Hycroft.

This event hosted by the University Women's Club is an event not to be missed. The mansion was beautifully decorated from top to bottom by different businesses. Organizations such as Unicef and Ten Thousand Villages (our competition) have booths on the top floor. Of course the Wilderness Committee always gets the best spot at the bottom of the stairs with all the crafters, right beside the food and the kids area.

Our big pitch this year is all our calendars, cards and catalogue all being printed on 100% post consumer paper. We teamed up with Metropolitan Fine Printers with paper from Unisource and finally we are able to put the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) logo on the inside of the calendar.

We then moved on to magical Granville Island. Once again we were located near the food court in the Market. This is one of our biggest booths of the year. We get 100's of petitions signed, loads of cards and calendars sold and we get to talk to members, Americans, students, market people, kids and many more. You really find out what's on peoples minds these days. We have a few more booths and events to attend and then its back to work, saving wild places and endangered species.

I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Winter Solstice, a very safe and joyful Holiday season. If I don't see you at one of the many merry get-togethers, I'll see you in the new year, as the Wilderness Committee goes into it's 26th year!!!! Thank you for purchasing product from the Wilderness Committee.

All the best -- Sue Fox
