Sierra Club calls for more protection of species

WEST VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - The Sierra Club wants stronger laws to protect species at risk.

Spokesman Eric Lorenz says the group wants the government to pass a stronger act to protect endangered animals, "To get introduced and passed in the Legislature, a BC Species at Risk Act that actually has teeth. You know, even though it wasn't prompted by the Eagleridge Bluffs dispute, you can see that it would have prevented it."

Lorenz was attending a meeting in West Vancouver of scientists and citizens concerned about the Bluffs.
