Bird on Bluffs latest development in highway delays

WEST VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - A BC ornithology expert says it is a rare bird, Sea to Sky Highway expansion protestors have discovered at the Eagleridge Bluffs construction site.

Over the weekend, the Eagleridge Environmental Stewardship Alliance claims to have found an active nest of the Solitary Vireo, a bird similar to a warbler.

Viveka Ohman with the BC Field Ornithologists says if the bird is the one the Eagleridge group claims it's found, it's a rare find and will be nesting now.

Ohman says a disturbance of the bird's habitat could adversely affect the delicate ecosystem of which the bird is a part.
