Wilderness Committee presents certificates as part of Chinese Community Outreach Project
The Wilderness Committee, in partnership with the Georgia Strait Alliance (georgiastrait.org) and Green Club (greenclub.bc.ca) hosted a press conference at their Gastown office today as part of their initiative to do outreach on environmental protection with the Chinese community. The emphasis was on the importance of environmental protection starting within each household, and the fact that all communities have a vested interest in environmental stewardship.
The outreach project involved recruiting Chinese speaking trainees to be instructed by Georgia Strait Alliance trainers on their popular Household Toxic Smart program.
After completion of the training, trainees give workshops to agencies and private companies. To book workshops, please contact project coordinator Meena Wong at 604-603-7447.
The program is still looking for more Cantonese speaking trainees. Trainees need to be outgoing,
personable, and preference will be given to people with experience in sales or education. The position requires the ability to do public speaking and give presentation to groups.
